"Another fab evening was had at the Old Royal pub in Birmingham's Central Business District with 11 teams competing to prove themselves as top dogs in the city for random knowledge. Proving that you don't need lots of people to win, Grant Thornton proved they listened best at school with their team of three coming out on top.

Hawaiian Night - 19 August 2011

"This year Michael Page treated some of the fine people of BCASS to an all-expenses paid trip to Hawaii (well, Bluu Bar on Summer Row if we're splitting hairs).

With grass skirts and cocktails aplenty, we were all set for a night of cultured conversation and witty observation in the finest of company.

This soon descended into a raucous night of revelry with hula-dancing for drinks, burger eating and an epic limbo competition which saw the laws of physics seemingly trampled on. (Well done to all, some more deservingly than others...). Attendees then walked a full 20 yards to Apres where the night continued.

We would like to thank the BCASS committee and all those who attended and helped make it an enjoyable night. We look forward to the next occasion, see you all soon." (Dave McGarry, Michael Page Finance)

Netball Tournament - 21 June 2011

“As sponsors of the annual BCASS Netball Tournament we once again donned our shorts and t-shirts on a beautiful Tuesday evening after work (thank goodness the weather was kind to us this year), in the hope of leaving the courts triumphant with the coveted trophy. Five teams were playing at Monroe’s Sports Centre in Edgbaston: Deloitte, Ernst & Young, Grant Thornton, Dains and Michael Page.

The evening had begun well with the glorious weather and everyone was now waiting to see how stiff the competition would be. By the time the first 3 games were played a certain team was totting up wins left, right and centre and winning by considerable margins! Ernst & Young seemed to be the team to beat but hot on their heels were the Deloitte team. The competition started picking up pace with some of the matches going right to the wire and the final scores becoming tighter! The time seemed to fly and before we knew it the final games were upon us. If Ernst& Young were going to win they would need to get through Michael Page, otherwise Deloitte would leave victorious! In one of the closest fought matches of the tournament (considering Ernst & Young’s previous scores were so high) Michael Page bowed out loosing 5-6. Ernst & Young had continued their winning streak and were the Champions of the tournament. Congratulations to Ernst & Young who were a formidable force on the court!!

Thank you to all the teams that took part and played so well; to BCASS and particularly Sam Simms and Dani Hall for helping Michael Page to arrange the tournament and refreshments; and to the two referees who did an excellent job of keeping us all in order (some needing more order than others Mr Baxter). We are looking forward to next year already."
