BCASS is a society registered as a charity, which represents all trainee chartered accountants in the Birmingham area.

Founded in 1882, the objects of the society include:

  • to assist members in their professional education
  • to arrange lectures, discussions, debates, visits, social and sporting events
  • to consider all questions affecting the profession.

BCASS is run by a committee made up of students and honorary members from firms and companies across the region. The aim of the committee is to meet the objects of the society by enhancing members' personal development and networking skills through social, sporting and work related events organised throughout the year.

Any individual who is serving under a training contract of the ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales), ICAS (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland) or ICAI (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ireland) is automatically a member of the society. But please note that ICAS or ICAI students are not automatically subscribed to BCASS. This must be done by either the individual or their firm.

If you feel the society is not doing enough, or you would like to know more about events or what the committee does, please contact Anne Hipkiss, the BCASS administrator.
